After you have been through Forming, you may want to Facilitate a Group.
Here’s a short summary of what you need to know about Facilitating a Forming Group.
Two Essential Items
You need access to the Forming Teaching Videos.
Please see the Main Menu >> Ordering >> Order Streaming
You also need the Facilitator version of the Workbook, Forming Change by Grace.
We recommend ordering from our ministry partner, Humble Shack. To do that, see the Main Menu >> Ordering >> Order Workbooks.
They currently have 3 versions of the Facilitator Workbook.
To be clear, they all have the same content as the Participant Workbook, and all have the same Facilitator Notes.
The Tenth Anniversary Editions have a number of added articles that supplement the workbook.
The Spiral Bound version lays flat while leading the group.
(International Users, please see Main Menu >> Ordering >> International Users).
Special Aids for Better Groups
Once you have the Streaming Video access, you will also have access to the Facilitator Training Videos.
These offer about 5 hours of specialized training for the Forming course.
We assume you already know about leading small groups. What makes Forming different is that it goes beyond teaching and engages the participants in Training. This requires different approaches to facilitating. So we encourage you to watch them all.
These videos also have short intros to each of the 12 sessions that help orient you to the focus for that topic.
We also have collected a number of helps over the years and posted them online.
Please see the Main Menu >>> Forum for help on the course generally, and for each session.
Also, please consider reading the book, Forming: A Work of Grace.
It has 12 chapters that correspond to the 12 Sessions of Forming, and contain a great deal of material we could not include in the teaching videos, including some theological background related to each session.
The book can be found at the same place you order Workbooks.
Leading Online Groups in Zoom
There are a lot of considerations in leading an online group that are not immediately obvious. So we have created a document to help.
At the bottom of this page, please look under “Downloads” for “How to Run an Online Group“.
Enjoy!
